Time to climb back on the wagon

So it has been several days... and well, getting back into a routine is proving to be more challenging that I remember. Plus I have had the pleasure of my BFF visiting me and cooking for me a lot...

Ahh the chocolate chip cookies were amazing... Tomorrow it is back to work though.

With the heat coming back to TN it is getting less appealing to walk after work, so tomorrow it's UP at 5:30 and hitting the walking trail.

You're an obese apple...

So I will admit, I've been called a lot of things over the years, but thanks to the polite words of the Internet I have to say I'm at a loss for words. After doing some reading it has come to my attention that not only should I be tracking my weight loss but I should also take into account other factors as well.

I did some Google searches and came across a website called www.ivillage.com. They have a tool to quickly calculate your BMI (Body Mass Index). So I plugged in some numbers and found out my BMI is currently 34.37. At first I'm like, hey, that isn't so bad... but apparently that IS pretty bad. According to their charts I'm not only obese but I'm, "An Obese Apple" and that is not a reference to the healthy fruit. ;-)

The most interesting part is that in order to be considered at a 'healthy weight' on the BMI index I not only need to lose the 55lbs in my plan, but an additional 28lbs. Wow, that would put me at a staggering 195lbs. Well, don't get me wrong, that would be just delightful, but I thought the whole "starving white boy" look was out this year.

Oh well, at any rate I'm still on for the total 55 lbs, I've even managed to cut 3lbs of water weight out over the past 48 hours... well, this obese apple needs to get ready for work. Speaking of apples, that is part of my test plan this week. 1 apple each morning with my low-fat yogurt for breakfast. Wish me luck! ;-)

Today is the Day!

Motivation: something that motivates; inducement; incentive.

So today is finally the day. I woke up fairly early this morning; yes 5am is what I do call early, especially on a Saturday after my day off. So I started thinking about the fact that I was up this early and it was pretty easy to understand.

The takeout bags were still sitting on my kitchen counter. Only 10 hours ago I had been enjoying the emotional satisfaction of the fried delights from Chili's take-out. Ahhh, chicken crispers and about 1200 other calories of fried goodness. Soon after eating I curled up on my bed and fell asleep watching episodes of Law and Order. I woke up to a knotted stomach; still wearing the clothes from the day before.

It has been 4 months since I lost my way on my previous 'diet' and have gained back all 35 lbs that I had begun to loose. Well, I'm done messing around. It is time for some real motivation. It is time for a REAL life change. Just 4 days ago I celebrated my 28th birthday, and for another year I have stared at myself in the mirror saying, "Okay, this year you are going to loose the weight," and yet again I have made excuses. I have started and stopped different exercise routines and eating plans. Each time using the excuse that it is too hard with my career or I just didn't have time today to work out. - LOSER!!!

Motivation: something that motivates; inducement; incentive.

My motivation is now going to be this blog. Today I become accountable. I become accountable for my weight and my health. I'm embarking on a new 6 month journey. I know it is not going to be easy. To me that is the first step, knowing it will not be easy. Each day this blog is my motivation. My promise to myself: 55 pounds in 6 months or less. Today... is the day I become motivated. Today... is the day I become accountable!
